Untitled Envelopes (Clouds to Infinity Series I)

Process is fundamental to Jones’ artistic practice. For the group exhibition Meet in Infinity at R52L gallery in 2023 he created Untitled Envelopes (Clouds to Infinity Series I). A large watercolour cloudscape was cut and folded into a series of individual envelopes that Jones posted to various exhibition spaces and residencies around Berlin. Upon arriving in the city for the show, Jones reunited each envelope and installed them together again as one. On the surface the work looked much the same, but it was now a form of living sculpture, holding within it not only the artist’s marks but the remnants of individual journeys across space and time.
