Brixton Hill
The Brixton Hill series is the result of Jones’ fascination with daredevil stormchasers and their online videos. Jones appropriates selected frames from the footage, transforming the matter and energy of vast cloud formations into beautiful foreboding charcoal drawings on tracing paper, replacing their American Midwest origins with his own inner city Brixton home. As always, Jones positions the familiar and unfamiliar; are we witnessing the subliminal beauty and violence of nature or the apocalyptic visions of 1970s and 80s sci-fi horror coming true.
